why do hermes birkin bags cost a fortune ? Would anyone out there settle for a supergrade replica ??

Would any of you settle for a supergrade replica with all identical markings and stitching for about US$300 ? I've seen the supergrade one and I must say it all looked the same and just as good as the auth one ! Even the shape, size and leather used are perfect. Like the hermes paris made in france stamping looked even nicer on the fake than on the authentic one i saw yesterday with a asking price of US$11,000! And the stamping was irregular. What are your thoughts ? Would you save up to get an authentic birkin or would you settle for a supergrade replica ? The salesgirl at the shop was kinda snooty when I asked to view the bag, she said becoz of its value, she would not allow me to view. What kinda attitude was that. I told her how could I spend a fortune on a bag if I can't even view it ? Eventually she took the precious birkin from the display like as if it was a fine antique chinaware between her index finger and thumb. Duh.
