My friend has a £2 collectors coin that is a totally different colour than a normal £2 coin on the internet it says that there was some made in gold and some in nickle brass how can we work out which 1 hers is please help.

You can use some acid (muriatic, nitric, or battery acid) which will discolour brass, but won't change gold.

But density is the only real way. Gold is heavier and more dense than brass.
