It is recorded that the Lacquer Pavilion which was shifted to Wang Suan Pakkard from a monastery was an unusual and memorable birthday gift that the princess received from the prince.

Within these five impressively built houses, visitors will come across a wide collection of art, antiques and Ban Chiang pottery. Wang Suan Pakkard is recognised locally as an important place that conserves traditional Thai Art. Apart from housing a rare and extensive collection of art, it also is a storehouse of a fine and precious collection of antiques. Wang Suan Pakkard is a museum that preserves many of Thailand’s precious treasures that have been discovered from its rich past.

The original grounds of which the palace now stands, was a cabbage cultivation land. In order to remember the former land of cabbage cultivation, the Prince who owned the Suan Pakkard Palace named it "Wang Suan Pakkard" which means palace of Chinese cabbage.
