God Descended From Ether
It was some time in 1990. One divine dazzling light descended from the ether, stood before me, introduced itself as Lord. I asked several questions like ordinary being i.e., Some people name Lord Vishnu, some Lord Shankar/Shiva, some Jesus, some Ram, some Allah, some Ambika, Some Lord Ganesha etc. etc.tell me in which shape you are?
The light itself told me that these are the names and shapes you people have kept for your own convenience to pray whole hearted to reach me. I don't have any shape nor any name.
He immediately enquired 'In which shape are you interested to see me?'
I replied 'I want to see Vishwaroopa (all pervading) sandarshana which Lord Krishna shown to Arjuna.'
Instantly He manifested Himself and shown me the Vishwaroopa. Thousands of sun lights were emanating from his body. He knew that my eyes can't withstand to see such a vision. Hence he applied 7 curtains (costly) infront of me and then showed His Vishwaroopa. As a layman I was astonished to see the feet and thought how much each curtain would have been (might be several billion dollars) and at the same failed to understand that for Creator it is a child's play.
I saw so many pretty Gods and Goddesses in His body who have been given several roles to play and He is just in a light form enjoying as a witness in every human being, observing karmas (each and every activity).
After a while He came to normal shape as Lord Vishnu (the shape I liked most) with 4 hands (chaturbhuja shank chakra gadha) wearing garland. After blessing He vanished in thin air.
From that day onwards He started communicating with me as an inner voice (like creator communicating to its wear), the voice could be audible only to me and guiding me on all aspects, as if steering of my life has been taken by Him.
I started pinching myself to make sure whether it is a dream or real and proved beyond doubt that it is real.

Actually, I think Confucius is referring to Ganesha not as a singular god, but as a metaphor for attacks on the idea of God/god/gods.
People hear God and may get confused, thinking their god is under attack.
Most Atheists tend to target God (and less frequently Allah) as they are known in the Bible, Koran and Torah.
I think Confucius may be of the belief that all gods are representations of the same need for a higher power (meaning, Allah is just the Islamic approach to God) he means it as the idea that all gods are really just representations of one entity.
Adherents of this idea would consider an attack on God as an attack on Fu Xi, Zeus, Amatseru no Mikami or even Ganesha as you point out.
