I am going to Bangkok in Mar. I would like to check if the tour booked in bangkok(at airport/ hotel) is cheaper than http://www.asiatravel.net/thailand/sightseeing/bangkok/v1.html.

In Bangkok, Pattaya and Chiang Mai it is real easy to obtain tours. Travel agents act as brokers for the local tour companies. These travel agents have a menu book of selections you can choose from. You choose your tours and the tour company picks you up at your hotel.. They work pretty fast - you can find a tour in the morning and in most cases you can go on that tour that afternoon. Same for evening dinner cruises or city tours.
There are so many tours available, some of these tours may not have the same description as your internet tour (link did not open.) Grand Palace and Emerald Buddha is a tour that is on one of my brochures, it is a half day tour for 500 baht. The time for this one is 8 am to 12 noon. Lots of tours are available such as River Kwai, dinner cruises, national park tours, floating markets, temple tours, calypso and mambo shows - lots!
When you use a credit card from overseas to pay for a tour in a foreign country - sometimes you also incur other "transaction" fees for using the credit card! I once got a $25 transaction fee when I booked a flight on Kenya Airways or Emirates Airlines out of Hong Kong for Bangkok.
I prefer to buy a tour after I get to Thailand for this reason - the particular day I purchased in advance may not be convenient on the day it is scheduled to depart! I may become sick and can't go, I may have suddenly found other interests that are more pressing or interesting, I may meet others who want to go elsewhere, etc. Buying your tour after you get to Thailand gives you more flexibility!
You can book tours at the airport as well as hotels. These tours may be more expensive than you can get on your own in town. You can also get a hotel booking at the airport too, but the hotel may be in a part of the city not convenient to other locations you want to visit.
My preference for a hotel in Bangkok is near the Skytrain route, perhaps in the Siam or Sukhumvit Road area (low # end.) The Skytrain can easily take you around the city, it is cheap and efficient!
Unless your hotel is out in the boonies somewhere, just walking around near your hotel you should pass several travel agencies. Compare prices and services offered in a couple travel agencies and choose the one you like best. When you buy a tour through the internet who will you complain to in person if the tour doesn't show up? At least in Bangkok you can always go back to the travel agent and get your money back in person. (In over 10 years in and out Bangkok, I have never cheated on a tour or purchase of a plane ticket - never!)
