There are no different ways in which Hindus worship in a Hindu Temple. There are just different people using varied ways to worship in a Hindu Temple.
According to the VEDAS , the ancient Indian scriptures specifying details of Sanatan Dharma Living ( Sanatan Dharma means a dharma which will last forever as it has the capabilities of bringing solutions to all of Human problems & at the same time is capable of uplifting one's conciousness), a set of Rituals have been prescribed to conduct any worship in any TEMPLE or even at home .
The Sanatan dharma is the Hindu way of living.
This set of Rituals is Known as SHODSHOPCHAAR POOJAN. It is a sixteen step Ritual beginning From cleansing of One's mind ( readying it for worship ) termed as Pavitrikaran to Welcoming the Deity ( AAVAAHAN ), offering your respects to the diety (PRARTHANA)& then saying goodbye to the Deity ( VISARJANAM ) to name a few.
Each step is having a specific Mantra & a specific mental & emotional aspect to it .
Each deity in a Hindu Temple is in fact an energy centre within yourself that you are trying to awaken & use for your own good. Lord Ganesha doesn't mean that a deity with an Elephant Head exists or existed .It only means that the energy centre of Southern side has a similar pattern which has been given this form-- to Explain it to the uninitiated & to enable him to understand THAT which does have form, because the mind cannot grasp with anything which does not have shape in it's grossest form..
